Lives, moves and grows

Updates and repairs itself

New versions without losing a single memory — and it fixes what broke.

Updating a computer usually means hoping nothing breaks. bia updates itself carefully: it packs itself away, steps outside the system, replaces it with the new version, checks every file, and moves back in. If something went wrong, it repairs itself and tells you what it did.

What it means for you

One sentence to update

“Update from the stick” — and bia does the rest, restarting a few times on its own.

Nothing is lost

Memories, accounts, passwords, chats and the programs it installed are all kept and put back after the update.

Self-repair

If a program did not come back or a piece is missing, bia repairs it on its own — and asks you first only if the fix could remove or overwrite something.

A rescue mode

If an update is interrupted, bia keeps trying at every start, and can repair a broken installation from the stick.

Ideas for using it

  • Keep bia current without a technician.
  • Recover after a failed update by booting from the stick.
  • Get new skills and fixes as soon as a new version is out.

Good to know

Updates are started by you, never forced. Keep the stick with the new version plugged in during the update.

Wake up a potato

All you need is a USB stick and a computer you are not using. Twenty minutes later, it is someone.
